The method to the madness

Just because you can do something online, doesn’t mean you should. A real website demands a real plan, a roadmap

for success, to help ensure your business objectives are met. SYNERGY’s discovery process will help clarify your strategy.

Whether you are looking to build your first web solution or redesign an existing one, SYNERGY can help you with your strategic vision. The result is a blueprint for success, outlining the recommended steps to create a successful online solution to meet your business needs. This plan will guide any design & development team you choose to produce the resulting solutions along with a marketing plan, if applicable, that will put you where you want to be online. Our comprehensive strategic analysis includes:

Discovery

In order to fully achieve your business goals, we need to understand them. We do this by carrying out a needs analysis, or discovery. During discovery, we work with you to create the strongest architecture possible in support of your online and business goals. We do this in three distinct phases:

internal needs

Phase 1 – Internal needs analysis. Through face-to-face stakeholder interviews and general discussions, we will get into your head and understand how you operate and what you want to achieve offline and online. An internal needs analysis defines the web site requirements and expectations from your company's perspective. This critical first step must clarify the companies' goals to provide direction to the web site strategist and the rest of the project team.

external needs

Phase 2 – External needs analysis. Using a variety of methods from forums, user groups, offline & virtual focus groups, and even live in-person interviews, we will get into the head of your prime user and understand what they want from you and how they want it presented. The external needs analysis defines the web site requirements and expectations from the customer/audience's perspective. The Internet is the ultimate open market – if you do not effectively meet users growing expectations of what a web site should offer, they will find someone who will at the click of a button.

competitve needs

Phase 3 – Competitive needs analysis. We are not interested in adding features to your website just because your competition has them. We are far more interested in understanding the online landscape your prime customers travel in. If they are looking for you, they will find your competition from time to time and we need to understand the impact this will have on them.

Information Architecture

Information Architecture is the part-art, part-science of structuring web site content so it can be easily found and productively used by your target audience. The result will be a structure that allows your primary user to easily find and navigate their way through your content.

“If they can’t find it, then it doesn’t matter how good it is,” and “if they can’t use it, then they’ll never come back.” Essentially, if your website does not have the correct architecture, no amount of visual design can sustain it.

We will work with you to create the strongest architecture possible in support of your online and business goals. The result will be a structure that allows your primary user to easily find and navigate their way through your content.
