Synergy Consultant Presents to MVP Summit and Windows Connections Conference

WESTPORT CT – Synergy senior consultant and MOSS MVP Randy Williams will be presenting to the MVP Summit and Windows Connections Conference.
March will be a busy month for Synergy senior consultant and MOSS MVP Randy Williams. For the first week of the month, he will be at the MVP Summit in Seattle getting an inside look at the next release of SharePoint (code named Office 14). While there, he will be meeting with the product team and fellow MVPs assessing and discussing core improvements in the product. He will also be starting to develop the initial strategy for Synergy’s next generation of courseware and services.
On March 15-18, Randy will be in Orlando presenting at the Windows Connections Conference. Connections is a twice-yearly event that brings the best speakers from the industry into a premiere event and offers the best opportunity to get deep knowledge on core products such as Windows Server 2008, Exchange and SharePoint. Cozier than other events that are larger, Connections may be one of the only times you can actually get one-on-one face time with these experts. At the event, Randy will be presenting three breakout sessions and teaming up with Dan Holme for a Q&A session on driving business value with SharePoint. Here are Randy’s three sessions:
WSH04: A Close Look Inside the SharePoint Engine
SharePoint is built on a number of different products and technologies. This session will give you solid architectural overview of both the product and its IIS, SQL Server and .NET Framework foundations. We’ll cover IIS Web sites, application pools, configuration and content databases, integration with Active Directory, code access security, and understanding key configuration settings in web.config. And if that isn’t enough, we’ll also unravel the mystery of how Web site virtualization and redirection actually works.
WSH08: Basic Developer Knowledge That Every SharePoint Admin Must Have
You may have heard that SharePoint is both a development platform and a product. Its flexibility, while great for developers, can cause administrator heartburn as they try to manage what is becoming a mission critical application. This session will cover many of the must-know concepts such as features, solutions, site definitions and SharePoint scripting. We’ll also dive a bit deeper into the underpinnings such as IIS, and the global assembly cache. This session will provide key knowledge that administrators must have to effectively manage a SharePoint environment and be able to communicate with a development team.
WSH05: Fitting SharePoint Into Your Organization’s Disaster Recovery Plans
As more content gets stored in SharePoint, its importance to the organization grows. Is SharePoint part of your Disaster Recovery Plan? If it should be, and you’re not sure where to start, this is the session for you. We’ll cover numerous scenarios and make sure you have the tools and techniques to recover your data. Out-of-the-box capabilities and third-party solutions will be covered.
Finally, at the end of the month, Randy will be a guest on RunAs Radio. The session will be a quick 30 minutes, and he will answer questions such as Enterprise Search, SharePoint as an Internet-facing solution, and the value of SharePoint as a development platform. You can download the MP3 here.
